Self-Discipline in Action
Self-discipline is an extremely important quality for success. It gives you the power to do what you should do and when you have to do it particularly when you are not in the mood.
“I had the discipline to set my primary goal. I even made step-by-step plans on what I should do to achieve it within 3 months,” said a client as we discussed the progress of his main current goal.
“The thing is,” he continued quietly, “I don’t seem to have the self-discipline to sit down and keep my thoughts on the task to hand. I seem to get easily side-tracked.”
Self-discipline is having self-control. It is having the strength of mind to focus and concentrate on the task that carries you closer to achieving your immediate goal.
Each time that you persevere when you don’t feel like taking action – when you are not in the mood – your level of self-discipline increases. And the more you endure the more you build on that discipline.
Your self-discipline will continue to rise and gain in strength as your commitment to taking control to use your time wisely multiplies.
Self-discipline keeps your current goal alive.
Can you discipline yourself for 10 minutes today to work on your existing goal? Can you increase those 10 minutes by 1 minute increments every day until you work on your goal for at least an hour every day?
